With a background in experimental, documentary and fiction filmmaking that pushes timely ideas to mainstream screens, Maya’s body of work includes feature films, television, documentaries, music videos and commercials that continue to explore unique new territory. She was recently nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for her photography on the CBC series WORKIN’ MOMS, and has served as Director of Photography on the show’s three seasons. Other credits include the feature films WEXFORD PLAZA (Slamdance), MY PRAIRIE HOME (Sundance nominee for Documentary Cinematography) and BELOW HER MOUTH (Toronto International Film Festival). Her work has been called “carefully composed and often dreamily stylized” by Variety, and it is within this intersection of the technical and the impressionistic that her photographic voice has found its place.
