Covert Affairs is a USA Network drama television series filmed in Toronto, Canada, starring Piper Perabo and Christopher Gorham that premiered on Tuesday, July 13, 2010. On January 6, 2015, USA Network cancelled Covert Affairs after five seasons. The series executive producers are Doug Liman and David Bartis and the co-executive producer is Jonathan Glassner. Production of the series takes place in Toronto, Ontario, at primary static sets housed in a studio, as well as at “stock” shooting locations throughout the local area. This is combined with material filmed at various international locations in which the series’ episodes are set, such as Washington, D.C.,capturing geographically unique elements of these places.

Shadowhunters is an American supernatural drama television series developed by Ed Decter, loosely based on the popular book series The Mortal Instruments written by Cassandra Clare. It premiered in North America on Freeform on January 12, 2016. Primarily filmed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the series follows Clary Fray (Katherine McNamara), who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters, human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons.

It is the second adaptation of the novel series, after the 2013 film The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which like the series was produced by Constantin Film. The debut season of Shadowhunters has received mixed responses from critics. The pilot episode attracted the largest audience for Freeform in more than two years. The show has received numerous award nominations, winning one GLAAD Award and two Teen Choice Awards.
The series was renewed for a second season of 20 episodes, which premiered on January 2, 2017. In August 2016, showrunner Ed Decter exited the series over “creative differences”. Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer were named as Decter’s replacements. On April 21, 2017, Freeform renewed the show for a third season of 20 episodes, which premiered on March 20, 2018.

The Strain is an American horror drama television series that aired on FX from July 13, 2014, to September 17, 2017. It was created by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, based on their novel trilogy of the same name. Carlton Cuse serves as executive producer and showrunner. Del Toro and Hogan wrote the pilot episode, “Night Zero”, which del Toro directed. A thirteen-episode first season was ordered on November 19, 2013.The pilot episode premiered at the ATX Television Festival inAustin, Texas, in early June 2014.

On August 6, 2014, FX renewed The Strain for a 13-episode second season which premiered on July 12, 2015.On August 7, 2015, FX renewed The Strain for a 10-episode third season which premiered on August 28, 2016. FX renewed the series for a fourth and final season on September 27, 2016,which premiered on July 16, 2017.During the course of the series, 46 episodes of The Strain aired over four seasons.

The show centers around Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the CDC’s New York-based Canary Project, who is called upon to investigate an airplane landing wherein everyone aboard is dead. What his team discovers is a viral outbreak that has similarities to an ancient strain of vampirism. The virus begins to spread and Goodweather works with his team and a group of the city’s residents to wage a war to save humanity.

Star Trek: Discovery is an American television series created for CBS All Access by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman. It is the first series developed specifically for that service, and the first Star Trek series since Star Trek: Enterprise concluded in 2005. Set roughly a decade before the events of the original Star Trek series and separate from the timeline of the concurrently produced feature films, Discovery explores the Federation–Klingon war while following the crew of the USS Discovery. Gretchen J. Berg and Aaron Harberts serve as showrunners on the series, with producing support from Akiva Goldsman.

Sonequa Martin-Green stars as Michael Burnham, a science specialist on the USS Discovery. Doug Jones, Shazad Latif, Anthony Rapp, Mary Wiseman, and Jason Isaacs also star. The new series was announced in November 2015, with Fuller joining as showrunner and wanting to make an anthology series. CBS asked him to make a single, serialized show first, with the prequel to the original series idea further developed.

Star Trek: Discovery premiered on September 19, 2017, at ArcLight Hollywood, before debuting on CBS and CBS All Access on September 24. The rest of the 15-episode first season was streamed weekly on All Access. The series’ release led to record subscriptions for All Access, and positive reviews from critics who highlighted Martin-Green’s performance. A second season was ordered in October 2017.

Designated Survivor is an American political drama television series created by David Guggenheim that airs on ABC. Kiefer Sutherland stars as Thomas Kirkman, an American politician named the designated survivor for the State of the Union, who suddenly ascends to the position of President after an explosion kills everyone in the line of succession. Kirkman deals with his inexperience as President while looking to uncover the truth behind the attack.

The project skipped the pilot stage and was ordered straight to series on December 14, 2015, followed by a formal announcement on May 6, 2016. The first episode premiered on September 21, 2016, with a full season order coming eight days later. The series was renewed for a second season on May 11, 2017, which premiered on September 27, 2017.

Shoot The Messenger is a Canadian political and crime drama television series that aired on CBC Television from October 10, 2016 to December 5, 2016. The series was not renewed for a second season.

Produced by Hungry Eyes Film and Television,the series stars Elyse Levesque as Daisy Channing, a young Toronto journalist who witnesses an apparent gang-related murder and is drawn into a criminal underworld with ties to the city’s political and business elite.The series also stars Alex Kingston as her editor Mary Fowler, Lucas Bryant as her coworker Simon Olendski, and Lyriq Bent as police homicide detective Frank Lutz. Supporting cast members include Hannah Anderson, Ari Cohen, Edie Inksetter,Al Sapienza and Nicholas Campbell, as well as guest appearances by Ed Robertson, Jamaal Magloire and Rick Fox.

Producer and creator Sudz Sutherland acknowledged that the series was indirectly inspired by the Rob Ford video scandal of 2013, but stated that the series is not meant to be interpreted as being about Ford in any literal way.

Blood and Water is a Canadian television crime drama series, which premiered on OMNI Television in November 2015. Set in Vancouver, the show centres on police detective Josephine Bradley (Steph Song). After Charlie Xie (Osric Chau), the son of billionaire real estate developer Li-Rong Xie, is found murdered, Josephine is brought into investigate despite having just been diagnosed with cancer. It is the first television drama series produced for a Chinese Canadian audience, the show mixes dialogue in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

The cast also includes Fiona Fu as Weiran Xie, the matriarch who holds the Xie family together; Loretta Yu as Charlie’s widow Teresa; Elfina Luk as his sister Anna, who is plotting her eventual takeover of the family business empire; Simu Liu as his brother Paul, a guardian of many of the family’s shady secrets; and Peter Outerbridge as Detective Al Gorski, a police colleague of Josephine’s.

Eight episodes were produced for the show’s first season A second season, also consisting of eight episodes, first aired on November 13, 2016.The series has been renewed for a third season.

Haven is an American-Canadian supernatural drama television series loosely based on the Stephen King novel The Colorado Kid (2005). The show, which deals with strange events in a fictional town in Maine named Haven, was filmed on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada, and was an American/Canadian co-production. It starred Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant, Nicholas Campbell and Eric Balfour, whose characters struggle to help townspeople with supernatural afflictions and protect the town from the effects of those afflictions. The show was the creation of writers Jim Dunn and Sam Ernst.

The one-hour drama premiered on July 9, 2010, on Syfy, and concluded on December 17, 2015.In August 2015, Syfy cancelled the series after five seasons.
