Celiana Cárdenas A.M.C. was born and raised in México City. Her movies have been in numerous festivals including TIFF, Guadalajara International Film Festival, Whistler Film Festival, Oaxaca Film Festival, Pan African Film, among others. She has worked with several Academy Award nominees including Louis Gossett Jr., Shohreh Aghdashloo, Juliette Lewis, Catherine Keener, as well as acclaimed actors including Tatiana Maslany, Matt Craven, Tantoo Cardinal, Hanna Schygulla and Bruce Campbell. Celiana graduated from El Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) in México City, attaining her Bachelor Degree as Director of Photography. She studied at the University of California (UCLA), taking a Master Degree in the ¨Painting with Light¨ program and where she also shot her first feature film in 1995. She has worked with such artists from the New Mexican Cinema as Emmanuel Lubeski A.M.C., A.S.C., Rodrigo Prieto A.M.C., A.S.C., Xavier Pérez Grobet A.M.C., A.S.C. among others. She shot all across Canada, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, Spain, United Kingdom, France, Lithuania, and USA.
Since 2010 Celiana has lived in Toronto, Canada where she has shot 8 Canadian feature films, 2 feature documentaries, 3 short films , 2 TV series, while continuing her career in Latin America.
In 2018-2019 she was the sole Director of Photography of the 2 seasons for the prime time CBC TV series “Diggstown”.
In 2019 once again as the sole Director of Photography she shots her first American TV series for Universal- Netflix.
In 2019 with the movie “The Cuban” she won the Borso’s Award for best cinematography on a feature film at the Wistler Film Festival.
In 2019 with the first season of “Diggstown”, she received her first nomination at the Canadian Screen Awards ( CSA Awards) for best cinematography in a drama series.
